The tournament is go!

The sun rose over the city of Mederria.  Even at this early hour, it was clear that the town bustled with an abnormal, almost excitable energy.  Today, the King's Golden tournament was held.  It was a momentous event that was only held once ever 25 years.  Most warriors would only have one opportunity in their entire lives to participate.  Because of this, people from all over the kingdom were drawn to the stadium - and some believed that fighters also arrived from other worlds.

But this contest was a little different.  Warriors would have to prove their ability to fight in a variety of situations.  The fight round may be pit the warriors in a dense jungle, and the next in an abandoned city or in the darkness of a cave. 

The winner would get their name in the hall of fame and according to lore, a single wish granted by the King's magician.


Alright, I'm Shanghaiing this contest.  This is how it'll work.  Sign up here and I'll place you in a bracket.  Let's give... until Saturday for sign ups.  From the date I post the matches, you will have two weeks to post in a battle RP.  Attempt to make the fight short and sweet, because if time runs out, I'll only be judging it on what has been written.

So here's what you need to do!  Fill in this profile for your character.  The most important fields are equipment and techniques fields.  If you use a technique or an item that your character has not got listed, your opponent can dispute your post.

When time's up I'll read the RPs.  If the RP is complete, the character who wins will proceed onto the next round.  If it is incomplete, I'll select the character I think was most likely going to win.

If you're going to be away for an extended period of time, let me know before hand and we'll sort something out.

- Don't assume your attacks made contact
- Don't control your opponent
- Don't make your character impervious to all damage
- Don't have your character avoid all attacks
- Don't use techniques / items that you did not list in their profile.

Oh boy, I can tell there's no way my character can win this match up.
If it's a small problem that can easily be solved by dropping your opponent a PM, do that and they may be willing to make a compromise.  If you think I need to get involved, drop me a PM.

Personality: Psychotic, fearless (most of the time), cruel, loves the smell of blood in the morning.

Skills: Okay. Big one coming right now. Tl;dr, and sorry Claine, as I know you'll have to read it either you want it or not. :(

- Scimitar Mastery: She knows how to cut people with big knives.

- Ambidextrous/Dual Wielding: She knows how to cut people with two big knives at the same time.

- Battledance: "Fight, not minding your own state. Fight so completely and beautifully, that the fighters are no longer there, but only the fight remains." (c:) Nitty's fighting moves resemble a dance.

- Divine Punishment: Punisher (right hand) will absorb any spilled blood (and to a lesser extent, some other bodily or organic fluids... ugh. BAD THOUGHT) and use it to heal Nitsua's own wounds.

- Hellish Redemption: Atoner (left hand) holds a number of souls, and as such, it slightly boosts Nitsua's speed, strength, and endurance while held

- Rite of Flesh: AKA Berserk (:P Running joke.)- Nitsua becomes three times as strong, at the expense of her own blood and health- and intellectual capabilities. In fifteen minutes, she is fainted. In twenty, she is dead. Obviously, it cannot be activated unless she is holding Punisher. In tandem with the Rite of Mind, it also adds to her endurance.

- Rite of Mind: AKA Soul Eater (:P Get it now?) - Nitsua becomes twice as fast, at the expense of the souls in Atoner - and her own intellectual capabilities. Take it too far, the souls are consumed completely (ouch) and Nitsua loses the little buff mentioned in Hellish Redemption forever. In tandem with the Rite of Flesh, it also adds to her endurance.


Items:

- Punisher: The Big blue scimitar that drinks your blood, and stuff.

- Atoner: The Big blue scimitar that condemns souls to A FATE WORSE THAN DEATH. ("let's be friends")

- Soft Leather Armor: Nitsua despises armor, but this is a big opportunity.

- Hooded Cloak: Probably to be tossed aside as son as the fighting starts.

Skills:

- One Handed Sword: Sitta can and will poke you with his rapier, if you're not careful. Shields are for sissies, and two-handed weapons are too slow to use.

- Nimble: Good luck landing a hit on the guy (good luck avoiding the counterattack, too). But when you do, it's all over.

- Flight: Good for the mighty "upwards dodge", and other fun techniques. Wings appear at will, are made of energy, are bloo, and don't need to flap to keep him airborne.

- Fragile Speedster: Once he gets going, he gets fast. Lacks stamina to keep up for too long, though.

- Flash Stepping: Platinum Sibling racial technique. In a moment, Sitta warps to somewhere else close by.


Items:

- The White Carnation: A shiny rapier made of that silvery metal called mithril.

- White Toga: Armor is only good for slowing you down in Sitta's opinion. A toga is pretty, comfy, and keeps you warm without hindering you.

Skills: Marksmanship, rifling, good magical knowledge. Combat Spells:
  • Repleo Phasmatis: Activation time is close to nihil, due to being a simple spell. Although her pistols can only offer one round before reloading their selves, this spell creates magical projectiles that, although weaker than actual bullets, refill instantly. The source for this is a small magic circle (diameter of about an inch), which can be placed anywhere on or up to 25 feet away from the body. It can be broken using physical attacks.
  • Saepenumero: Creates a single magic circle floating vertically (either behind the body or stationary), with a diameter of about 1.3 times the size of the user. Activating the spell costs about 2.5 seconds. Saepenumero will automatically act as a sort of slow machine gun, in that it will shoot projectiles from different spots within the circle with about 0.2 seconds interval. These projectiles are very difficult to aim due to being controlled by body position, rather than a steady hand, and are about half the power of Repleo Phasmatis' projectiles. Saepenumero serves more as a tool than an attack. The circle can be broken as easily as glass.
  • Curvo: If Saepenumero is activated, Curvo allows all projectiles shot to curve a maximum angle of 45 degrees. However curving projectiles now leave trails of light making it easier to track the source.
  • Labefactum: If Saepenumero is activated, Lamefactum can any projectile explode! This will multiply the interval rate by 2, however, and cuts off a quarter of the range. However this can cause high damage to both living creatures and artificial structures.
  • Ictus: taking 0.4 seconds to cast, Ictus is a single projectile that only can be used every 12 seconds. However it does not require a pistol to use (although it will be weaker without one). Ictus cannot be used in combination with any spell, however, but will travel further and has the impact of a lance's thrust; piercing many armours with relative ease.
  • Eo ire itum: Although these circles take about 5 seconds to cast, once created its caster can move freely from the one to the other. The circles have a diameter of half the caster's length. A maximum of five circles can be out at once.
  • Deleo semita: Instantly destroys a magic circle, creating an impact on destruction similar to an explosion. Deleo semita costs around 0.5 seconds to cast. Without using this spell, circles can be removed instantly, but will not have a damaging effect.
  • Cassus: A fake circle. Does nothing. Takes virtually no time to cast.

Items:
  • Twin pistols. These have runes graved into them to resist the magic pressure.
  • Saber. Plain saber; no magic no nothing.
  • Military uniform. Woven from special threads offering good resistance to magical spells and lighter resistance to cutting and piercing forces, however none to bludgeoning force.

Skills: Selene can heal most non-life-threatening injuries on her own without using too much energy.  However, she prefers to save her energy for attacks until the situation becomes dire.

Though she is blind, she is by no means handicapped.  She can sense the slightest muscle movements by changes in air currents and temperature.  Her other senses are also finely honed.

Dirty Harry: Fires five difficult-to-dodge shots directly at target.  May or may not fire a sixth.  Feeling lucky, punk?
Trigger Happy: A nonstop hail of bullets for several seconds.  Slightly easier to dodge than the Dirty Harry.
Heaven's Light: A blinding flash of light that stuns the opponent for ten seconds.
Hellfire: Flames envelop the opponent.  Very taxing on Selene, so it only lasts for a second or two.
Rapture: A devastating bolt of lightning called from the heavens.  Can only be used once every ten minutes.
Requiem: A move of last resort.  Uses all of Selene's energy, envelops opponent in a crushing abyss.  Takes a while to prepare.
Archangel: Forms a sword out of thin air.  A slight variation forms twin swords.
Mea Culpa: Strips opponent of ability to use magics for five minutes.  Unfortunately, strips Selene of her abilities as well, reducing the battle temporarily to only physical attacks.  She is unable to heal injuries sustained during this time, even after gaining back her magic.

Items: Selene carries two guns, and wears light yet strong body armor.  Her wings have minimal armor, since she uses them from time to time to sense her surroundings.  The blindfold she uses to protect her eyes also heightens her other senses.

Race: Human.
Age: Frozen in the 20-somethings.
Height: 6'2''
Build: Somewhat muscular
Personality: Usually calm, focused, not very talkative, attention to details although somewhat of a worrywart over them.

As for his skills/equipment, he has manipulation of metals (like his armor, shield and sword) and that includes his metallic body and blood, which he manipulates to becomes incredibly resilient and reduce blows or counter-attack as long as his magic holds. He keeps vials of (his) blood (post-metalification) so that he can make not only weapons, but also support runes and circles to gather magic from the ambient and defend with them, using the magic-filled blood to protect from attacks as if they were miniature shields (although this depletes them, how fast depends on the charge).

(It's easier for blood to absorb and retain magic at longer distances, if you're wondering. Also, even if he wasn't metallice, he can manipulate the iron in his blood regardless, it's easy since it's obviously compatible with his magic energy and comes already bathed in the stuff)

Has potions that he keeps in a small magic pouch, upon breaking they might burst into flames or freeze what the liquid touches or even produce bright flashes, among other various effects; he could also do some of them with his metal by altering vibrations and the like, but it's quicker this way. He also has some that he can quaff for extra vigor, make his blood poisonous (see above) or restore his magic reserves.

Dreos can transform something into something else, but unless it's something simple or the materials are already available it's going to be a large expenditure of energy that could be better used somewhere else.

He can also control the earth somewhat.

Personality: Slightly pessimistic from time to time, but dedicated nonetheless. A tad shy. Can be a little phylosophical every now and then.

Alright, battle ready to go. 

The underlined name who's starting the thread.  Just start it in the Private RP section.  Tag it if you want, but I can't imagine it'd really matter.   The opening post doesn't need to be a work of art.  The quicker it gets done, the better.  Introduce your character and the arena.

Let's put a cut off date of the 23rd December.

Hopefully I've explained everything well, so there's no questions, but if you've got one just stick it here.

Ooooh, deserts are fun. It is an immensely mean game on poor Dreos, wearing all that heavy armour. I hope you don't mind the freedom I took with the temperature and all, it is logically assumed off the image you described, Ansrit.

That said though, I look forward on how Dreos will deal with it and... Yeah... About the acquaintances and warnings before firing... Let's just say Yvette is a little bit on the evil side sometimes.

Oh: and @Claine would it be okay to have this round run till January? Because tests are coming up for me next week and the week after that, so I won't be able to post as much or like... At all, during that period.

He wouldn't be much of a Steel Mage if he couldn't overcome something like that, plus the armor is just an excuse to keep large ammounts of extra metal on his person; but yeah, most sandy deserts are hot and can even blind you during the day so 40 degrees sounds about right.

Still, I figure it's kind of weird, I never expected such a harsh arena for a first fight. Though I say that, the odds are leaning to Dreos's side somewhat. In-depth profile

And I know!!! I have exams too! And they are soo poorly planned, there are going to be going until the 21th! And those aren't all of them, they come back in January. ;~;

I'm willing to extend it out to the 6th Jan, which is an exact month of RP time.  I'm just worried it'll start to die off long before then.
