D&D - Discord and Dismay.

West looked up at Nero's rows of books. They were all meaninglessness scribbles to him, but even he had to admit - books looked good. Nero was the kind who wanted books that were hundreds of years old. It was a horrific waste of money - surely he could just go to the bookshop in the mall and buy the exact same thing for $20.
Something caught his eye on the very top shelf. One of these things were not like the others. Most of these books were old and covered with leather. Some had the ancient language written along the spine, and glowed during the night. Some where studded with stones or adorned with gold - but one... was brand new. Just a normal hard-cover book you could buy anywhere.
West pulled over a chair and carefully slid the book from the shelf. Still standing on the chair, he flipped through the pages, and as you'd expect from any of Nero's books the pages showed pictures of dragons and swords and monsters. Thoroughly unimpressed, he was just about to return the book when Tsane entered the room.
Tsane's eyes drifted to the book in his hands. "What's that you got there," he said. West shrugged. Tsane stepped closer to West, taking the book from him. Immediately, he let out a laugh "Jeez I knew he was a nerd, but I never thought..."
"What?"
"It's a roleplaying book."
"You mean he's a roleplaying character who plays roleplaying games?"
"Let's not get too far down that rabbit hole," Tsane said, rubbing his forehead. To be honest, he'd always been curious. Not curious enough to actually buy a book or look for a group - but since the opportunity had presented itself, it'd be a shame not to cash in on it. "We should give Pan's girls a call and see if they're up for a game," he said with a laugh trying to not sound serious - although he was.

And call her they did. Hopping into her magical (not even close) car, she dragged along her three favorite ladies, whom were also the three that would probably provide the best results of their gaming. Pan silently wondered why she didn't have more male characters.
Today they were not in character, and the girls were dressed in everyday attire to help make their blending into society an easier achievement. Ismene and Ai were shoved into matching red shirts against their will, with Laena sporting a lazily ironed, white tank-top, arms folded irritably across her chest.
"Oh, come ooon." Pan quite dangerously looked into the back seat where the three were cramped, her swerving at the last moment to avoid an oncoming vehicle as her three passengers stared in horror. "It'll be fun! We haven't had a party at our houses in years!"
"That's because the boys are insane." Laena glanced unhappily out the window. Nero had sarted taking Claine and Pan's crack conversations seriously and was making more active efforts to annoy the Gerudan with OBVIOUSLY faked affections. "I don't see why playing a game in which we roleplay would be at all fun, when we roleplay for a living! It's stupid. Why do I want to spend my break times doing exactly what I do while I'm working?"
And they'd been like this since they left Pan's house, and it continued even as Pan pulled up to Claine's home.
She forcefully dragged her characters up the stairs and positioned them to the side, prepared to stop their escapes as she knocked on the door. "HEY, ONE OF YOU GUYS OPEN UP."

At the sound of Pan's voice, the door swung open. "Greetings!" Nero cried in a dramatic stage voice. The Alt was dressed in a long black robe, cowl pulled over his head. He looked at the girls lined up outside the door all in casual clothes. "What, you didn't even dress the part?" he sighed, "Oh well, it doesn't really matter...
I guess.
"
He stepped aside so Pan could usher the three girls inside. As Laena passed by Nero gave her a small wave "Hey there Laena, long time no see."
The house had been rearranged for the event. All the tables and chairs had been pushed to the centre of the room. On the bench, there was a huge array of unhealthy food - potato chips, chocolate and several kinds of soda. There was also a small, sad looking plate of vegetables and dip because Tsane insisted they have something healthy to offer.
"Sit down, sit down!" Nero cried to his guests in his melodramatic voice, escorting the girls to the table. To Pan he said "Claine's in the other room. I guess you can go in there and play computer games or something."
"Or plot our demise in your own game," West said from the other side of the room.
Tsane sat at the head, with a pile of books and plastic container of brightly coloured dice. Placed in front of each chair was a small stack of paper and a pencil - carefully sharpened to a fine point.

Laena only spared Nero a small look, one that merely acknowledged that he was present.
"This doesn't look very fun." Laena commented aloud, picking up a pencil to examine the sharpness. "What's the point?"
"You've been complaining about it since we left the Pansion, just let him explain it!" Ismene, now tired of Laena's voice, snapped at her fellow character with a frustrated sigh.
With a wave, Pan disappeared into the back room with Claine, sending her characters a last wave before sending them on a wild roleplaying adventure.

Nero slid down in the chair beside Laena. "There is no point, it's just for fun." West also came to the table - he wasn't as keen as Nero, or even Tsane for that matter. He knew, without a shadow of a doubt that this game would turn out to be a disaster, and he wanted to be here to see it happen - or possibly even make it happen. He'd been convinced to wear the same leather armour as he did for Curse of the Gods. He slid onto a chair at the far side of the table.
Tsane wasn't dressed in costume - he managed to worm his way out of it by taking the part of DM. He took a stack of papers, and handed them out. "This is your character sheet," he said. "Nero, you'll probably have to help West with his... Anybody know what class they want to play?"
"Oh, I'm going to play a wizard
of course
."
"You can't play a wizard!"
"Why not?"
"You are a wizard," West said flatly.
"No I'm not," Nero frowned, truly insulted. "I'm a sorcerer."
"Show some imagination," Tsane said. "You're not allowed to be a wizard. Or a sorcerer for that matter." He pointed a finger at Ai, then Ismene "That rule goes for both of you too."

That meant Laena was basically banned from all manner of classes. Tabbing her pencil against her character sheet, she stared down at the words as if glaring hard enough would make them go away.
"I'll be some kind of thiefy character!" Ai knew exactly what Nero was talking about - after all, mages were NOTHING like wizards or sorcerers! These ignorant non-magic types just didn't understand. "I guess if I can't play a magic-based character, I'll be someone sneaky!"
"/I'll/ be bolder, then." Ismene said, actively seeking to start some form of competion. "I will charge into battle as a warrior... maybe with an axe."

A wry grin spread across West's face. "I'll be a cleric."
"You'll be what?" Nero said much too loudly. The grin didn't disappear off West's face. He was serious. Nero got a sinking feeling in his stomach.
Tsane felt it too. "...well that's good, I guess the party is going to need a healer," is all he managed to say. "What about you," he asked Nero.
"I guess," Nero paused. "I guess I'll be a ranger."
Tsane noticed Laena's loathing. "You can be anything you want," he said trying to smooth out the situation.
"Laena you
have
to be a wizard. Nobody else is going to be one!" Nero pled.

What a ragtag bunch if fools, filling rolls they've never filled before. Laena was a tad bit interested in the class-picking thing, if only for the fact that he brother had been taught magic when she could not learn. The art was still fascinating, even if she didn't want to act like she was interested. "Ugh... fine. I'll be a wizard of some kind."

Well, that went better than expected, and it seemed that the party would actually be fairly well rounded - although the trustworthiness of the cleric was questionable. It shouldn't be that bad, maybe it'd all work out fine. He looked at West, still grinning like some kind of cartoon villain.
Some time later, everybody was finishing up their characters. "So uh, I guess we should do introductions," Tsane said.
"Oh! Me first!" Nero said, pointing to his extremely neatly filled out sheet - he'd even drawn a small picture in the provided box. Tsane shrugged and gave him a wave to continue. "
Weeelllllllllll
his name is Aratumorte and he's ranger. He's got pitch black hair and stunning blue eyes that change colour when he gets mad. He fights with a bow, and he's got a really great horse. He's black and his name is Apostle, and he can..."
"Okay Nero, that's enough."
"And I drew a picture!" He held up his page for everyone to see.
A knock at the door and Claine popped her head in from the other room. "Hey, pull another chair over," she called out to Tsane. "That wheely chair by the computer will do."
"... Why," he raised an eyebrow.
"Another guest."
The question on everybody's lips. Who? Claine simply
didn't
RP with anybody but Pan.

The doorbell rang. There was indeed another person who RPed with Claine and she would be seen fleeing the scene in a '95 Toyota Camry, with large amounts of dark blue paint missing and the back two windows only held together by duct tape and the power of will, the second someone opened the door. Her car represented the struggle of the people vs. government and the engine ran great, too.
Aw, forget it, it would have taken three days to get home again. She parked on the other side of the street and rushed to the door with the character.
Say hello to Caviar- Er, Cookie? No, try again. Fries? Um... Say hello to the resident food item, What's-her-face, and her character, I-rarely-get-screentime. The latter was better known as another What's-her-face, but the Chief What's-her-face called her Raposa. Actually, she called Raposa by the name Vixen, but that wasn't the point.
Vixen, hence the name, wore a black fox mask. All parts of her body were covered in some manner by black clothing, including gloves, tights, ruffled dress... I'm bored just writing this, really. Not really into clothes. Anyway, the only part that wasn't covered was her long, red-orange hair.
The player with almost as many names as Pan took off Vixen's mask and put it in her giant pink purse that never seemed to match anything she ever wore. It held a lot of things, so much that she called it a bag of holding. A nerd like that probably had nerdy characters, too. The fox-named lady frowned at the player's action.
As soon as they could step inside, the player ran into the room with a Claine and a Pan inside and proceeded to start up those glomptackles.
A nervous, fanged smile came from Vixen. Of
course
the food item had to bring a vampire; one from the World of Darkness, no less. She was crazy beautiful under that mask, so why did she wear that mask all the time? IC reasons.

"Okay okay, I think I'm going to be a battlemage because Gods know I can't sit around and wave my hands like some fool." Laena muttered aloud, scribbling obsessively upon her character sheet. "Your picture sucks, by the way." All she could really think of in regards to Nero's character was that strange type of original that most people regarded as a "sue," which in this case made little sense because the character was obviously male, and Laena couldn't for the LIFE of her remember if there was a male version of the name.
If she was going to be forced to place this silly little game, she was going to beat all of them at it and make sure they NEVER wanted to play with her again. No, no, don't invite Laena! She'll embarrass us all with her incredible skill! Ha ha. Perfect.
"But, wait! Battlemages are just warriors! Warriors with a little bit of magic! ... right? You can't be like me!" Ismene protested loudly. Only one person would be using an two-handed weapon and it would be her!
"I'm not like you! I'm better. I'll just go sword-and-board, sit down and shut up."
At least by being an stealth character Ai managed to avoid most of that trouble. "Assassin's are fun -- oooh, maybe I can join you guys after trying to kill off the leader."
And then there was the knock at the door, and each character fell into silence. The door was opened with magical mind powers, and before anyone could even send a greeting, one of the guests had bounded off, leaped into the back room, and crashed into the other two roleplayers at the computer.
And thus, they were left with the vampire, and vampires tended to bring back a few memories of terrible writing from five years prior.

Nero took one look at the vampire. "At least she came in costume," he said, shooting accusing glares at all the girls in their casual wear. Except Laena. He'd never shoot an accusing glare at her. What a guy. Her comment about his picture made him frown slightly. "It's not a bad picture," you could actually hear the hurt in his voice. "I tried my best."
Tsane rubbed his forehead. Everything was going wrong. The arrival of the new player, Laena's last-minute character changes... They still hadn't even started. "That's enough," he said to the two bickering girls. To Laena, he added, "if you want to play a battle-mage, that's okay."
"Doesn't that break the rules. Aren't you kinda a battle-mage," West said to Laena, stirring up that pot. "If Nero isn't allowed to be a wizard, why are you allowed to be a..."
"West, be quiet." Tsane silenced him. "We're running out of time as it is." West pouted. He hadn't even started.
"And Claine invited a vampire - really?" Remember that terrible writing mentioned earlier? West took a large dose of that.
"West, be quiet." Tsane repeated. "Uuhh, what's your name?" he asked the vampire woman, "Take a seat." He motioned towards the wheely chair.

Raposa bowed deeply. "Raposa Queimada." A thick accent spun through her words, seemingly Latina in origin. "The food item spoke of a role-playing game and I was the only one who wanted to join. Is... there something the matter?" Oblivious fox-lady was oblivious.
She took the wheeled chair and sat incredibly close to West. "I already know what I'm playing." She grabbed a character sheet like any average nerd would do, and filled it out quickly with extra concentration on her penmanship.
When she was done, she presented the sheet. "Taliwen, a wild elven druid with a wolf for her animal companion." Nerdy Toreador for the win.

".... Hm, if I smash someone's head in, can I bring them back to life, too?" She wanted a zombie companion! All these people were getting pets and she felt left out! Never mind the fact Ismene and Ai were still petless.
Ismene's face was horrified at the suggested, and she quickly shook her head despite not knowing for sure. "Don't say that! Please, how many zombies did we have to deal with in Curse?" No more.
"Well, there was that town, and then the Necromancer, and then West tried to kill us--"
"I didn't ask for a run-down, sister. At least we don't have to wait for our new guest, though. I'm Ismene." She introduced.
Laena lifted a hand to acknowledge the vampire's presence, reciting her name. "Laena."

Tsane for one had been won over by the Vampire. She was the only who wasn't arguing for starters- and she was able to make a pretty good character. Well, better than Nero's at least.
"I didn't try to kill you," West snapped back, sliding his chair a few inches away from Raposa's. He glanced over at the vampire with an obvious snarl. "Things just ... didn't work out quite as planned." What plan? He had no plan.
"West, how about you be useful and tell us about your character?"
"Oh oh oh, it's not much of a character," Nero said. "West is the worst at this."
"No, I'm just not a pretentious arseface. I keep things simple. Pay attention, okay. The guy's name is West. He has silver hair and red eyes. He's a cleric steals from the church."
