Hershel can still be Hershel, but modernized.  Like, he can still be in the 20's mindset and all, but he knows about technology and stuff.  Kind of like... let's see, how did I try to explain this to Sahara... It's like all the characters are actors in a film studio, and they take breaks from their arpees to hang out.  For example, Sahara's character is from a Medieval Fantasy arpee, yet she's got a cell phone and stuff.  Got it?
