The Empire of Maedos

Here's one of the few ideas I have for an RPG and here we go.
Lore of the Maedos Empire
Welcome to the Empire of Maedos, where all races are accepted 'almost' equally. Two Millenia ago, a human King named Maedos, tired of the many wars with the other races, came up with a plan to create a great empire. He spent most of his youth uniting every human to his cause to form an army of millions. And with those millions, he overwhelmed and quenched the flames of war. But instead of killing off the other races, he spared the, and left them with a proposal.
"Join my great empire as equals and your kind will flourish like you have never before".
And with that his army left. The first to join his empire were the Orcs and Goblins enchanted by the wealth promised to them. Maedos kept his promise, the Orcs and Goblins were welcomed to the city, albeit cautiously. Within a decade, the Orcs settled nicely into civilization. Orcs could be seen marching side by side with human soldiers, hawking their wares openly in the market and have temples of the deities erected at the temple district. The goblins unfortunately have much difficulty adjusting to civilization. Their limited intelligence only allows them to do simple jobs, like messengers, cleaners and couriers. Fortunately for the Empire, the goblins were more than happy to take jobs that do not prove fatal and offer them easy money, so the goblins played their roles in the empire as cheap labor.
Seeing how well the Orcs and Goblins fared in the empire, the next to join the empire were the Ogres and Ogre Magi. In peace, ogres worked as construction workers, heavy guards and bouncers while the ogre magi work as sages, foremen, advisers and even mayors for their greenskin kin. At war, they worked as heavy armored soldiers whose effectiveness were on par with siege engines and the Ogre Magi were deadly heavy mages, infiltrators and generals. It was because of these giants that the empire were able to defeat the rebelling minotaur race and subsequently enslaving them.
With that show of force, the empire attracted the Hobgoblins, Gnolls and Kobolds. The Hobgoblins and Gnolls, fitted in exactly how the orcs did when they first joined the empire and with little hostilities. The Kobolds, however, had a great deal of difficulty as they fought constantly with the goblins. This resulted in the first racial riot of the empire as well as the discovery that all greenskin folk had a small amount of wild magic within them. When the goblins joined together in a massive riot, sparks practically flew from the fingertips and the goblins nearly wiped kobolds from the face of the empire. After that incident, imperial mages discovered that greenskin folk all have a latent magical ability that grows stronger with the increase of their numbers. Thus goblins have been limited to a certain number in imperial cities. To stop anymore fighting, the kobolds were then given their own district as well, where they spend the next millennia recovering their numbers after the riot. Thankfully, due to the goblins and kobolds short life-span, the riot was easily left buried in the depths of time.
After its first millenium, the empire which is now named after its creator Maedos finally saw the joining of not one but two new races almost simultaneously. The Elves and the Drow. The elven folks did not heed the empires proposal and continued their age long battle against each other. And within that millennium, both the elves and Drow were losing as their prolonged war had diminished their population tremendously. Seeing the opportunity, the Mindflayers and Beholders joined together to drive the Drow out of Underdark, leaving them defenseless. so the Drow decided to turn to the last option, the empire. The present emperor, however, made it perfectly clear that if they tried to spread chaos within the empire, they will bring the full might of the empire down on the entire Drow race. That pretty much silenced even the most devout worshiper of Lolth.
Seeing what had happened, the elves had no choice but to also join the empire as well, or else they would have become an enemy of the empire. The Drow settled into the empire with ease. Aside from the common Drow, who simply practically integrated into common empire folk, the female house Drow continued the job as priestesses and clerics while the male house Drow spread out to numerous government jobs from light infantry, assassins, scouts to book-keepers, desk-workers and middle-managers of warehouses.
The elves, on the other hand, took centuries to accept their new standing. taking three elven generations to be precise. First generation, or the "Ancient Elves" stayed in their own introverted societies within the empire and elven cities, grumbling about the "plight" of their once proud race. The second generation, or the "Pioneer Elves" were more open to the empire and its numerous races, though somewhat reserved due to the constant reminders from the Ancient Elves about how the empire ruined them. The third generation, or more proudly known as "Imperial Elves" are the ones who are happy to be part of the empire. Even though the Imperial elves are now used to empire culture and civilization and have no qualms with most of the jobs, they are still close to nature and are very adamant about the destruction of their forests. The emperor easily side-stepped the issue but simply promising that the empire will never touch any of the ancient forests or the forests near elven cities, which the elves accepted hesitantly.
With the rising number of the Imperial Elves, the other fey races started to join the Empire. The Gnomes and Halflings were surprised at how easily they fitted into the Empire that they regretted not joining it earlier.
Only half a millennium ago, a slave Minotaur named Soelm saved the then present Maedos Emperor, granting the Minotaur race not only their freedom, but a large piece of land near the mountain borders to build their own city and start anew, which they all gratefully accepted. The minotaurs, appreciative of their freedom, are fiercely loyal to the empire. It took them a mere five decades to build their immense city, which seemed at first glance like a immense maze. Because the city was build specifically for large creatures, it attracted ogres and ogre magi, making ogrekin the second largest population in the minotaur maze city. They now work alongside ogres in similar jobs, though in war the minotaurs were much more efficient as defenders. With this, the minotaur city was able to repel forces from the old kingdom of Farnese with general ease, adding to the ever-growing reputation of the Minotaurs.
The last to join the empire a mere decade ago were the dwarfs, seeing humans accept the racial enemies with open arms sickened them, and they closed their lands from the empire and refused to trade with them. However, without the protection from the empire, they were constantly raided by other countries and their resources grew lesser and lesser without trade. Finally, almost on their hands and knees, the dwarfs went to the empire to beg for their acceptance. It was a surprise to many that Emperor Solaris did not exploit the present weakness of the dwarfs, but he also pooled all the resources necessary for the dwarfs to quickly get back on their feet, much to the joy of every dwarf in the empire (and dismay of the imperial treasurer and the treasury).
With that, the dwarfs became stoic and loyal citizens of the empire. The common dwarf is still very wary towards the non-human folk of the empire and nearly hostile towards the Orcs and Drows. But that will quickly change, as the longer living races know.
The Neighbors of the Maedos Empire
There are no neighbors to the east of Maedos as all there is is the sea.
FARNESE
Maedos shares their eastern, as well as a large percentage of its borders with the old kingdom of Farnese. It is pretty much what Maedos was before the unification. The kingdom is hostile towards Maedos, they view such a large number of races being led by a "Commoner" as an abomination. That insult to their emperor and country automatically labels Farnese enemies of the Minotaurs and Dwarfs of Maedos. People of Farnese commonly refer to Maedos as the Land of the Horde. Although hostile towards Maedos, Farnese nobles are too busy fighting amongst themselves to cause Maedos any real harm. That does not mean that they do not take any opportunity to plan skirmishes against Maedos. This was greatly changed after the appearance of the Minotaur Maze City at their borders where the number of successful skirmishes on Maedos was significantly reduced to zero.
HARSH
Harsh a an immense country that shares their southern border with both Maedos and Farnese. The country of Harsh, or more commonly know to all as the land of the dead, is split into two faction. The western Faction above Farnese is ruled by a group of Liches and Necromancers who control vast numbers of undead and are constantly trying to take over its neighbors. The Eastern faction above Maedos are a more civilized group of undead. Ruled by an entity known as 'The Great Shade' that appeared roughly a century ago. This faction contains undead and shadowy races of many kinds. Within, you can find vampires, mummies, shades, wights, ghouls... etc. However, it seems at present they are not hostile towards Maedos. In fact they do not seem to care about Maedos at all, more focused on the Eastern faction of Harsh, which after the appearance of 'The Great Shade', whom they refer to as their god 'Shar", they have been slowly overtaking.
SHANTIR
Maedos shares its Southern border with the Magedom of Shantir. Not much is known about Shantir other than it is governed by a council of mages. They have been on a cold war with Maedos for more than a Millenia. They have only declared that they want the land of Maedos and its citizens for themselves. It is also the many raids from Shantir that had greatly hurt the dwarven race thus making them automatic enemies of the dwarfs whom will attack them on sight. Just saying that you are from Shantir to a dwarf, even as a joke, will get you killed.
DAMASCUS
Rightly named for it damascus rich mountains, The Kingdom Damascus is a small little country sharing all its borders with Maedos on the Northeast, Shantir on the West and Farnese on the Northwest. Damascus is populated totally by Hobgoblins, making it militaristic almost by default. They are almost self sufficient making trade with them almost impossible. They are so rich in Damascus that almost anything metal in Damscus is made of it. Soldiers are equipped with Damascus tipped spears and shields and armor, Even the cooking pots and pans in the common household are made of damascus. Farnese has tried to conquer Damascus once but failed miserably. In retaliation, Damascus invaded Farnese and they were unstoppable due to their quality in both equipment and martial prowess. However, the soldiers of Damascus stopped short of reaching the capital of Farnese and went back home, advancing their borders one hundred kilometers into Farnese as a warning. They warned Farnese the next time they try to wage war with Damascus, they will wipe them from the map. With that show of power, Shantir, Maedos and Farnese have never fought against Damsacus. However, recently Damascus has shown interest in Maedos, wanting the Imperial dwarfs to teach them their way of the forge, which has made its neighbors very nervous, and the dwarfs are even more nervous.

Greatly, it seems that any of my characters would be right at home here, though I don't know yet which to use...
I'll have to think it, or you could recommend someone, I haven't used any of those in a while so anything is fine by this point in time.

Everyone of your guys can easily fit into the setting. Well, all except Rayleyi. The people of Maedos are outgoing but a Slime is a little out there.
Cassandra and Veronica can be ambassadors from Western Harsh. Here to speak on behalf of the Great Shade 'Shar'. Umm.... for Cassandra's survivability under sunlight, can we say that the Great Shade gave her an Artifact Amulet that allows her to not turn to ash under the sun?
Arion and Orion will be citizens of Maedos, so Cassandra's marriage to him makes her a good candidate for Ambassadorial status.
I'm going to use the D&D Dungeon Master method of playing everyone you guys will be interacting with and Also so that I can flesh out the world more for you all. That means I have no real characters, but it also means that it would be more difficult for the RP to get locked in by someone not posting.

Well, not that Ray couldn't hide her true nature, but OK.
Little white lies like that are standard, so that's ok too.
And taking the reins like that sounds like a fine idea, here's hoping for a long life to your RP.
